A few words from Father Gregory

These words from Father Jordan make me think of my father and how he was our family's rock. I remember, when I was a little boy, feeling safe because I KNEW that my father would never let anything bad happen to me. He relied on his strong Catholic faith to keep himself anchored so he could provide guidance, wisdom and love. His strength and sense of humor combined to carry his entire family through some pretty tough times. I am grateful to have a day to honor his memory and to thank the many men who have steered loved ones safely through life.
Beginning this Father's Day, June 17, Salvatorians will honor fathers by celebrating a special Father's Day Novena. We dedicate this Novena in honor of St Joseph, Patron of Families. As the step-father of our Savior, St Joseph faced many storms with great love, wisdom and strength. As we remember St Joseph, I invite you to send me the name of your dear father-whether living or deceased- so together we can remember your father in these nine days of Masses and prayers.
Please send me your father's name either online, by mail or by calling 1-800-254-4902. We are also eager to remember other men you know who are fathers and/or spiritual guides either to you or other loved ones at the Novena of Masses. Be sure to send me the names of those you wish to honor by June 17, so that we Salvatorians include them in our prayers.

May you and those dear to you be blessed in a real and special way this Father's Day, confident in the love our Heavenly Father holds for us all.

A Prayer for Fathers
Dear Heavenly Father,
I ask that you bless my father
and fathers everywhere.
Grace them with your wisdom,
your strength, your
forbearance, and your mercy.
Let their lives be a testimony
to your justice, but most of all,
to your constant love.
Grant that our nation and all
the world come to revere the
"manly virtues" of honesty,
perseverance, and faith.
And welcome our fathers
who have preceded us into
eternal life, confident of your
favor, your understanding,
and eternal happiness in
the company of you and
your saints. Amen.
